Incidents
July 25
A report was received of a male subject possibly tampering with vehicles in the area of Cynthia Street. The reporting party stated that they had items stolen out of their unlocked vehicle. The case remains under investigation. 
Suspicious activity was reported on Cole Street. Officers were dispatched to the area. 
A domestic assault was reported on the 600 block of Joe Jones Boulevard. The suspect left the scene. Charges were forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor. 
Tampering with utilities was reported in the 300 block of Cherry. The case is under investigation. 
Property damage was reported on the 200 block of Aid Avenue. The case remains under investigation. 
Items were reported stolen from a vehicle on West Main. No suspect has been identified. 
A report of stealing was received from a residence on Thayer Avenue. The investigation continues. 
A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of Thornburgh and Missouri. The driver was cited for driving while suspended. 
A sexual incident was reported on Kentucky Avenue. Information was collected from the victim. 
July 26
A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle on the 700 block of West Main. The incident remains under investigation. 
Damage was reported to school buses on the 200 block of Trish Knight. Three fire extinguishers were stolen from the buses, and fire extinguishers were set off in two of the buses. The investigation continues. 
A subject brought a cell phone to the police department and stated that it had been found near Walmart. The phone was place into evidence for safekeeping. 
A subject who was known to have an active warrant was seen in the area of Aid Avenue. The subject was taken into custody and was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. 
A woman contacted the police department with concerns about her daughter and grandchild. Contact was made with the daughter, and it was noted that the woman was hallucinating. The children in the home were not in danger, but the incident was reported to the Children’s Division. 
July 27
A male subject known to have active warrants was seen on Ramseur Road. The male was arrested. 
Contact was made with a female subject at 6th Street and Missouri Avenue. The woman was arrested on active warrants and was also found to be in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Additional charges were forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor. 
A call was received from a local vet clinic for an injured dog. The owner of the dog stated that it had been shot by an unknown suspect. The dog had several small puncture wounds and received treatment for the injuries. 
A complaint of stealing was received from a residence on Lincoln. A male and female were arguing over the woman going through the man’s belongings. The man stated that items were missing. It was discovered that the woman had an active warrant for stealing and was arrested on that warrant. 
A report of stealing was received from a business on the 1300 block of Preacher Roe. No suspect has been identified. The investigation continues. 
A rollover accident was reported on State Route CC. It was determined that the driver of the vehicle was under the influence of alcohol and had fled from the scene. A probable cause statement was sent to the Howell County Prosecutor. 
Officers were dispatched to Stewart Street for a report of threats. A male subject state that another make had made threats toward him. No charges were filed. 
Contact was made with a male subject on Utah Street The man was arrested on an active warrant. 
July 28
Two bicycles were reported stolen from a residence on Jackson. The case is still under investigation. 
A suspicious vehicle was reported on Lanton Road. Contact was made with the occupants of the vehicle, and it was discovered that the female subject had an ex parte against the male subject in the vehicle. A report was completed, but no charges were filed. 
A male subject, known to have a suspended driver’s license, was seen driving on Howell Avenue. The man was arrested, and charges were sent to the municipal court. 
A domestic disturbance was reported on the 600 block of Joe Jones Boulevard. A man and woman got into a physical altercation. During the altercation, two pit bulls got out of the home and bit friends that were coming to the residence to pick up the female subject. No one wished to pursue charges. The dogs were quarantined for ten days. 
An individual came to the police department to report harassment. The matter is under investigation. 
July 29
A traffic stop was conducted on U.S. Highway 63. The driver was cited for failure to display state license plates, failure to maintain financial responsibility and driving while suspended. 
A driver’s license was located in the road on 5th Street. The item was taken to the police department. 
A female subject was taken into custody for contempt of court at the municipal court. 
A sexual offense was reported on Westmont. The matter remains under investigation. 
A female subject was taken into custody for suicidal statements at a home on the 1400 block of 3rd Street. Allegations of child abuse at the home were also made. The case remains under investigation. 
An officer responded to a home on Nichols for a report of fraud. A suspect has not yet been identified. The case remains open and under investigation. 
An individual brought found property to the police department. The property was placed into evidence for destruction. 
Officers responded to Walmart for a theft complaint. All items were returned to the store. 
Officers responded to Ozarks Healthcare for a discharged patient with active warrants. The subject was placed under arrest and transported to the Howell County Jail. 
Contact was made with a male subject at Snappy Mart 49. The male was arrested on an active warrant. 
July 30
Theft from a motor vehicle was reported on the 1400 block of West 2nd Street. It appeared that two teens took a cup full of change from the vehicle and fled from the area. The investigation continues. 
Multiple items were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on the 1400 block of West 4th. 
A bag and several items were found scattered along the road and in the grass on the 1600 block of 5th Street. The items were taken to the police department and placed in evidence for safekeeping. 
A female, who had reported missing from Washington County, Missouri, was found on U.S. Highway 63. The woman was taken to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment, and her family was notified. 
A man reported his identity being stolen and someone trying to withdraw money from his checking account. The matter remains under investigation. 
A male subject was arrested on multiple warrants out of separate counties after being involved in a two-vehicle accident on Broadway. 
Two male subjects were arrested during a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 63 near Heritage Tractor. No other charges are pending. 
A traffic stop was conducted on Porter Wagoner. The driver received citations for driving while revoked and failure to maintain financial responsibility. 
A woman was issued a citation for littering after leaving trash and refusing to pick it up. The incident happened during a response to a medical call on Broadway. 
Theft from a motor vehicle was reported on the 1400 block of 7th Street. Multiple victims reported missing items. Video footage was collected for investigation. 
Contact was made with a male subject at Snappy Mart 49. The male had multiple active warrants and drug paraphernalia was found and seized. 
Individuals found loitering in Gibson Plaza, who had been warned on previous occasion to not loiter in the parking lot, were issued citations. Juvenile referrals were sent to the juvenile office for minor individuals that were found loitering. 
July 31
A disturbance was reported on State Route BB. A naked male was located at the property. The case was forwarded to the municipal prosecutor. 
Don’s Goodyear reported that a vehicle had the rear window broken out of it while it was parked at the business. 
A traffic stop was conducted on 6th Street. The driver was found to have a suspended license and was in possession of drug paraphernalia. The male was arrested at the scene. 
Found property was reported in the area of Debra and Lexington. The property was placed in evidence for destruction. 
Child abuse was reported at Arby’s. Officers were advised that all involved parties had turned home to Arkansas. Further investigation found that the report of abuse was unfounded. 
A disturbance was reported on Jon Street. No involved parties wished to pursue charges. 
An intoxicated driver was reported on Ridgewood. A woman reported that her ex-boyfriend came to her residence intoxicated to visit his daughter. The two got into an argument, and the male left the residence. 
A verbal domestic was investigated at the West Plains Police Department. No charges are pending in the matter. 
A hit and run accident involving a bicyclist was reported at U.S. Highway 160 and Bruce Smith Parkway. A white truck with a cattle trailer hit the cyclist, knocking him off of the bicycle, when turning from U.S. Highway 160 onto Bruce Smith Parkway. The incident was forwarded to the Detectives Division. 
August 1
A male subject stole $22 worth of gas from Snappy Mart 11. The male was identified, and charges were forwarded to the municipal prosecutor. 
An unknown subject stole gas and damaged a lawn mower on Curry Street. 
A traffic stop was conducted on Missouri Avenue. The driver was arrested on an active warrant from Wright County. 
A stolen vehicle was reported on Jefferson Avenue. A report was taken. 
A domestic assault was reported on 4th Street. A suspect was identified. The investigation continues. 
A domestic assault was reported at the police department. A suspect has been identified, and the investigation continues. 
A traffic stop with a motorcycle was conducted on Independence. The driver was found to have a suspended driver’s permit and was issued a summons.
