Calls for Service

January 30

Officer Ivie Powell took a report of a firearm stolen from a vehicle on Grace Avenue.

Officer Connor Burnes responded to a call of trespassing located on Bill Virdon Blvd. Property owners previously warned the subject not to return. Officer Burnes issued a citation and released the subject. 

Officer Brent Keepes took a report from the West Plains Jail of an inmate who caused damage to the facility.

Officer Keepes received a report of a possible violation of child custody order. A report will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office. 

Officers responded to a business on Kentucky Avenue for an alarm. They cleared and secured the building.

January 31

Animal Control Officer Brad Jones responded to a residence on Missouri Ave for an abandoned animal. The caller relayed that subjects were residing in a bus on the property with their dog. He had been unable to make contact with the subjects for several days, but the dog remained. The dog was transported to the animal control facility, and the matter is under investigation.

Officer Powell responded to Southern Hills Drive for a report of burglary. A business reported someone had entered and taken cash. The matter is under investigation. 

February 1

Corporal Thomas Manning responded to McFarland Drive in response to an out-of-control juvenile. Officers disabled the situation and provided juvenile remedies for the mother.

During an investigation, Detective Aaron Galiher discovered a convicted felon in possession of multiple firearms. The investigation is ongoing. 

Officer Keepes responded to Ramey’s Grocery Store for a report of shoplifting. The suspect will be charged. 

February 2

Officer Burnes responded to a theft in Southern Hills Shopping Center. The victim reported that a suspect forcibly took their purse and fled the area. The case is under investigation. 

Officer Martin responded to Ozarks Healthcare to contact a pedestrian stuck by a vehicle that fled the scene. The incident is under investigation.

February 3

Officer Chris Siegrist responded to Westmont in reference to ongoing CPR on an individual. They pronounced the individual deceased a short time later. 

Detective Joe Neuschwander and the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force received a Cyber Tip Report from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children indicating that the France-based chat application Yubo had observed message threads that included online enticement of children. The suspect is identified as living in Wright County. The investigation will continue.

Officer Martin responded to Texas Street for a disturbance. He learned an adult and juvenile were in a physical altercation. He took the adult into custody on a 24-hour hold. The case fill be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office for possible charges.

Officer Martin took a report of vandalism to a vehicle on Saint Louis Street.

February 4

Officer Martin responded to Harlin Drive for a wellbeing check. He discovered a physical assault with injury had taken place. He made one arrest and placed them on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges.

Sergeant Colter Reid responded to Maple Street for a report of an out-of-control mentally handicapped person. Officers attempted to detain the individual, but the subject assaulted and injured an officer. They placed the subject into custody and later transported them to Ozarks Healthcare for a mental evaluation. A report will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office for possible charges.

February 5

Officer Siegrist responded to Yeager Drive for a report of domestic violence. He arrested one individual and placed them on a 24-hour hold.

Officer Barrett responded to Stephens Street for a report of an overdose. 

Officer Stephens responded to Walmart parking lot for a report of a subject yelling and waving a knife from inside a vehicle. He located the individual and arrested them, later releasing them with citations.
