Incidents
August 23
Contact was made with a female subject with an active warrant on McFarland Drive. The female was taken into custody without incident. 
Officers responded to a report of a violation of a protection order. The female victim reported that a male subject, known to her, had violated the court order of protection. The matter was forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor. 
Officers were dispatched to Ozarks Healthcare for a report of an assault. A male suspect was taken into custody after assaulting staff in the OB department. Formal charges are pending. 
A burglary was reported in the 1200 block of Jackson Street. As of report time, the case remained open. 
Property damage was reported at C Star on Division Drive. A suspect was identified. The case was sent to the juvenile office. 
A domestic violence incident was reported on Pine. A woman reportedly struck her boyfriend against the trunk of a car. No charges were filed due to an uncooperative victim. 
A couple was reported arguing while walking along 5th Street. The victim wished to not pursue charges in the incident. A report was completed for documentation purposes. 
West Plains Police K-9 Loki alerted deputies to the presence of narcotics in a vehicle that had been stopped on South Howell. Suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found inside the vehicle. 
August 24
A possible deceased male was reported at a residence on Lambert. The body of the deceased male was released to the coroner. 
A physical altercation was reported in the Southern Hills area. It was learned that a a daughter had struck her mother in the back of the head. There were no injuries observed, and no charges are pending. 
A domestic disturbance was reported at a residence on the 200 block of West 1st Street. It was learned that a man had slapped his wife across the face. There were no visible injuries, and the victim did not wish to pursue charges. 
The Mountain Grove Police Department requested a digital forensic examination on a cellular device, as part of a narcotics investigation. The process was completed, and the phone was returned to Mountain Grove Police. 
The 37th Judicial Court reported that a person failed to return a court ordered GPS ankle monitor. Charges were forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor. 
Officers were dispatched to Pierce Street for a report of a minor possessing tobacco products. The matter was forwarded to the juvenile office. 
A verbal domestic disturbance was reported on the 200 block of West 1st Street. A report was taken. 
Property damage was reported in the Southern Hills Shopping area. The victim reported that their vehicle had been hit by a shopping cart. The victim did not wish for an investigation but did want a report on file. 
The theft of a catalytic converter was reported on the 1800 block of Porter Wagoner. Due to lack of evidence, the case was closed. 
A domestic disturbance was reported on the 1200 block of North Howell Avenue. It was determined that no physical altercation had occurred. 
August 25
A domestic disturbance was reported on the 200 block of West 1st Street. Both involved parties were identified, and photographs were taken of alleged injuries of the victim. A probable cause statement was forwarded in the indecent. 
The West Plains Police Department assisted Homeland Security Investigations in the execution of a criminal search warrant on the 1400 block of Mitchell Street. 
Officers were dispatched to the West Plains Probation and Parole Office to arrest a male subject on an active warrant. 
A 16-year-old runaway was reported by the girl’s mother. The mother reported that the girl left the grounds of West Plains High School and had not been seen since. The matter is under investigation. 
A vehicle accident was reported near Kentucky and Gibson. One driver was possibly under the influence of drugs. Lab results are pending. 
Property damage was reported at a residence on Columbus Street. The case is under investigation. 
Found property was reported on Freedom Drive. The item was taken into custody for safekeeping until the owner could be contacted. 
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department referred an investigation to the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force, concerning the online exploitation of children. The suspect was identified as living in Douglas County. 
Property damage was reported on the 1100 block of Saint Louis Street. Pictures were taken of the damage, and estimated values were obtained. The investigation continues. 
A found was found at Butler Children’s Park. The phone, which had been turned in at the West Plains Police Department, was returned to the owner. 
Contact was made with a male subject with an active warrant at Casey’s on Broadway. The male was taken into custody without incident. 
August 26
Officers assisted the Howell County Sheriff’s Office with a traffic stop on Porter Wagoner Boulevard. It was determined that the female driver was driving while intoxicated. 
The West Plains Police Department assisted Homeland Security Investigations in the execution of a criminal search warrant at a business in the 1700 block of Porter Wagoner, and in the 1600 block of Gibson. 
Items were reported stolen at Dollar General on Preacher Roe. The matter was forwarded to the investigations division. 
Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Olden for the report of a deceased person. The matter remains under investigation. 
A report was received of a male subject trespassing and trying to gain entry to a residence on Ozark Street. The investigation continues. 
A female subject made a report of harassment. Charges have been forwarded to the West Plains Prosecuting Attorney. 
August 27
Officers responded to Walmart for a report of shoplifting. It was reported that a female subject left the store with items that she did not pay for. 
Officers were dispatched to a report of found property at a business on London Lane. It was determined that the items had been stolen from the 900 block of West 2nd Street. The matter is under investigation. 
Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Olden to assist the Department of Social Services with an open investigation. 
A stolen vehicle was reported at Auto Zone on Preacher Roe. No suspects have been identified. The case remains under investigation. 
Minor injuries were reported in a physical domestic assault on the 1100 block of Lanton Road. Neither involved party wished to pursue charges. 
Contact was made with a female subject with active warrants on Broadway. The woman was taken into custody without incident. 
A vehicle was reported stolen from a residence on Missouri Avenue. The investigation was ended when the vehicle was returned to the owner, and the owner declined to pursue charges. 
August 28
Three male subjects were arrested during a traffic stop at Parkway Shopping Center. Methamphetamine and marijuana were also seized from the vehicle. 
A vehicle stop was conducted on U.S. Highway 63 near Ozark Street. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of marijuana. The driver was cited for speeding and marijuana possession. 
A male. Subject with mental issues was reported in the area of Ozark Street and Baxter Street. The man was transported to the hospital for a mental evaluation. No charges are pending. 
Contact was made with a female subject with active warrants on Harms Street. The woman was taken into custody without incident. 
August 29
An officer was dispatched to the city pool for a report of a male subject that had climbed the fence and was swimming. The male exited the pool and was in the pavilion when the officer arrived. The man was arrested on active warrants. 
A game camera was reported stolen from a residence on Nebraska. The theft is under investigation. 
A male subject with active warrants was located on North Howell Avenue. The man was taken into custody without incident. 
Toyota of West Plains reported a broken window in a vehicle on their pre-owned lot. No suspect was identified. The case was closed due to lack of evidence.
