April 17

Officer Barrett responded to a business located on Porter Wagoner Boulevard for a report of a motor vehicle theft. 

Officer Barrett responded to Crestwood Circle for a report of a motor scooter taken from a residence.

Officer Ivie Powell responded to Murphy Gas Station for a report of a subject in a vehicle possibly huffing a substance. EMS transported the subject for treatment. A report will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officer Brent Keepes took a report of a vehicle stolen from Washington Avenue. The case is under investigation.

April 18

Officer Joel Lovelace responded to Kentucky Avenue for a report of suspicious activity. He located a subject in the area in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officer Lovelace took a report of identity theft. 

Officer Powell conducted a well-being check on an individual and found them to have active warrants. He transported the individual to West Plains Jail.

Officer Lovelace responded to Abe Taylor for a report of a catalytic converter theft. The incident is open and under investigation. 

Officer Connor Burnes responded to a juvenile issue. He found a juvenile to be in possession of a nicotine vaper product. This case will be forwarded to the Juvenile Court. 

Officer Brixey responded to Sixth Street for a report of a suicidal person. EMS transported the individual for mental evaluation.

April 19

Douglas County Sheriff Department requested that digital forensics be conducted on five cellular devices as part of an on-going investigation within their jurisdiction. Detective Joe Neuschwander completed the process and provided the devices and forensics to the case agent.

Department of Health and Senior Services OSI requested assistance with an on-going investigation concerning the financial exploitation of the elderly. The investigation is on-going.

Corporal Thomas Manning met with a victim regarding a sexual assault. Attempts to contact the suspect failed. A report will be forwarded to the Detective Division for investigation.

Corporal Manning took a report from Porter Wagoner of a stolen catalytic converter. The report will be forwarded to the Detectives Division for further investigation. 

Officer Powell took a report of a financial scam.

Corporal Micah McKemie took a report of threats against a school. The case is under investigation.

Corporal Manning assisted Mountain Home Police Department with a missing juvenile. 

April 20

Sergeant Joshua Wichowski responded to Casey’s on Preacher Roe Blvd for an individual making threats towards another. He found the individual to have active warrants and took them into custody.

Officers responded to West First for an assault with injury. EMS transported one individual for treatment. A report will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officer Powell responded to a report of a runaway juvenile from Arkansas in People’s Park. He located the juvenile and turned them over to the Juvenile Office.

Officer Burnes took a report of two juveniles in possession of a nicotine vaper products. This case will be forwarded to the Juvenile Court. 

Officer Keepes, responded to West Thornburgh, regarding a physical domestic in progress. Investigation found an ex-boyfriend assaulted his ex-girlfriend causing her pain. He arrested the individual and placed them on a 24 hour hold pending formal charges. 

Officer Brixey responded to Chippewa for a report of an assault against a juvenile that occurred on the school bus. A report will be referred to the West Plains Police Department School Resource Officers for further investigation. 

Officer Siegrist took a report on North US Hwy 63 of theft. 

Corporal McKemie responded to Independence Drive, in reference to a possible drug overdose with the individual unresponsive. EMS transported the individual to the hospital for further medical treatment.

April 21

Sgt. Wichowski responded to a domestic disturbance on Simpson Street. Investigation discovered that a domestic assault had occurred. Formal charges will be forwarded to the West Plains Municipal Prosecutor.

Officer Stephens took a report of an assault from Lanton Road. Charges will be forwarded to the Municipal Courts.  

Officer Keepes responded to Ginger Drive regarding runaway juvenile. He found the juvenile and they were transported to the hospital for a 96 hour hold. 

Corporal Stuart responded to Seminole in West Plains for a disturbance. He took a subject into custody on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges for harassment.

April 22

Cpl. Stuart responded to Maple Street for a leaving the scene traffic crash. He learned that the driver fled the crash on foot and that the vehicle had been stolen moments before from Aid Avenue. This case is still under investigation.  

Officer Siegrist took a report of stealing. The investigation is ongoing.

Officer Heuchelin responded to Lambe for an assault report. A Probable Cause statement will be sent to the 37th Juvenile Circuit Division.

Officer Heuchelin took a report from East 3rd for a stolen catalytic converter. The case will remain open and under investigation. 

Sgt. Reid responded to West Plains Recycling in reference to a report of a catalytic converter theft. The case remains open and under investigation. 

Officer Siegrist took a report of eggs thrown at a vehicle.

Sgt. Reid received a report from 1st Street in reference to a report of a domestic violence incident. Both parties separated. 

Sgt. Wichowski responded to Rhonda Drive for a report of assault. Neither party reported any injuries and the victim did not wish to file charges. 

April 23

Officer Martin responded to Garfield Avenue for a report of assault. Investigation found an assault occurred and charges will be sought.

The West Plains Police Department Strategic Response Team (SRT) activated to support the Howell County Sherriff's Office SWAT Team with a barricaded suspect that had several felony arrest warrants on County Road 3370, Mountain View. The Howell County SWAT Team and West Plains SRT resolved the incident and arrested the suspect. They transported the suspect to the Howell County Jail.

Officer Lovelace responded to US Highway 63, West Plains, for a report of a catalytic converter theft. The incident is open and under investigation. 

Officer Brixey received a report of an assault on Lanton Road. The suspect could not be located at that time. A report will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office for possible charges.

Officer Brixey responded to Jackson Street for an assault that took place elsewhere. The investigation is ongoing.
