Incidents
September 10
Contact was made with a female subject who had active warrants near the court square. The woman was arrested without incident. 
Several power tools were reported stolen from a residence on Johnson Street. The matter is under investigation. 
A female subject came to the police department to report an assault that had occurred earlier in the day. A probable cause statement was sent to the Howell County Prosecutor seeking charges. 
A domestic disturbance was reported on Grace Avenue. A boyfriend and girlfriend had gotten into a verbal altercation which led to pushing and shoving. No charges were sought due to both involved parties being uncooperative. 
A traffic stop was conducted on Broadway for a lighting violation. The driver of the vehicle was arrested on an active warrant. 
Property damage was reported at a residence on Simpson Street. No charges were sought due to the reporting party not being compliant. 
September 11
A trespassing incident was reported on the 1200 block of Lambert Lane. 
Contact was made with a male subject on Amyx who had active warrants. The male was arrested and was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. 
A lost or stolen wallet was reported at the West Plains Sports Complex. The matter remains under investigation. 
Contact was made with a female subject with active warrants on Joe Jones Boulevard. The woman was arrested without incident. 
A two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Garrett and Elmore. One of the vehicles involved in the accident had left the scene. 
A domestic disturbance was reported on Grave Avenue. No charges were sought in the altercation, which was between two sisters. 
Found property was located on the 1200 block of West 1st Street. A report was taken. 
Officers were dispatched to Dollar Tree on Mitchell for a report of a child left unattended in a vehicle. A report was taken. 
September 12
The driver in a traffic stop on Missouri Avenue was found to have an active warrant out of Cabool. The driver was arrested at the scene. 
Active warrants led to the arrest of a driver who was stopped for a lighting violation. The stop was on the 300 block of Joe Jones Boulevard. 
Officers arrested a female subject on the 1700 block of Porter Wagoner for active warrants. 
Found Property was reported near Harbor Freight. The items were placed in evidence for safe keeping. 
Contact was made with a male subject who had an active felony warrant. The man was arrested without incident. 
A trespasser was reported on the 600 block of Preacher Roe. Though the suspect fled on foot, he was identified. Charges will be sought. 
A male subject was observed shirtless and hitting objects, near downtown. The man was located and was taken to the hospital for treatment. 
Officers responded to a report of an injured animal at the intersection of U.S. Highway 160 and Saint Louis Street. The animal had to be put down due to its injuries. 
September 13
Ozark Action reported catalytic converters being stolen from two company vehicles. The investigation continues. 
A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a company vehicle at a facility on Braxton Avenue. 
Another two catalytic converters were stolen from company vehicles at the Howell County Health Department on Kentucky Avenue. 
A domestic disturbance was reported at the West Plains Skate Park on Saint Louis Street. A report was completed. 
A peace disturbance was reported at a business on Abe Taylor. Though a female subject had assaulted the business owner, the business owner did not wish to pursue charges. The female subject was trespassed from the business. 
A hit and run accident was reported in the Walmart parking lot. The incident remains under investigation. 
A male subject reported receiving death threats via text messages. 
September 14
Property was found on the 200 block of East 1st.  A report was taken. 
Assistance was given to a stranded motorist at the intersection of U.S. Highway 63 and U.S. Highway 160. 
A loose dog was reported on Columbus. The owner of the animals was issued a citation. 
An investigation was conducted into a reported social media post regarding a juvenile bringing a firearm to school. It was later discovered that another juvenile had lied about the social media post, and that there was no firearm at the school. 
A report of someone passing checks was received. The case remains open. 
September 15
A domestic disturbance was reported at a residence on the 200 block of Maple. The parties were separated. 
An investigation into digital content of child sexual abuse found that a person living in southwest Missouri may being storing such files. The investigation is ongoing. 
The Ozark County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance in obtaining social media files, as part of an ongoing investigation. 
Contraband was found in the 600 block of Olden. No one was around the contraband when it was discovered, and no charges are being pursued. 
A woman reported that money was mistakenly deposited into her bank account. 
A driver was given a citation during a traffic stop on Porter Wagoner Boulevard. The driver had a suspended license. 
September 16
After a traffic stop on the court square, it was discovered that the driver was driving while suspended. The driver was arrested, booked and released with a citation. 
Contact was made with a male subject who had an active warrant. The man was taken into custody without incident. 
A traffic stop was conducted on Holiday Lane. The driver was given a citation for driving while revoked. 
Property damage was reported on the 1200 block of Porter Wagoner. The investigation continues. 
A two-vehicle accident was reported in the Walmart parking lot, in which both vehicles left the scene. No charges are being sought. 
An assault was reported on the 400 block of Kentucky. A report was taken, and the incident remains under investigation. 
Contact was made with a male subject who reported that he was assaulted by three male juveniles. The man did not wish to pursue charges. A report was completed. 
September 17
The Juvenile Office requested assistance with a referral they had received about drug paraphernalia. The case is under investigation. 
A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle at the First Church of God. The matter remains under investigation. 
A theft was reported at Walmart. There was no suspect identified, and the case was closed for lack of evidence. 
A suspect was identified in another stealing incident at Walmart. Charges are being sought through the municipal prosecutor. 
Found property was reported at Bradford Circle. The items were placed in evidence to be destroyed. 
Found property was also reported near Jefferson. The items were taken to the police department to be picked up by the owner. 
A gas drive off was reported by a gas station on the 1600 block of U.S. Highway 63. The investigation is ongoing. 
A trespasser was reported on Lambert Lane. The male subject admitted to going through the dumpster on the property. The case was forwarded to the prosecutor. 
A traffic stop was conducted on Old Airport Road. The driver was taken into custody on an active warrant. 
A passenger in a vehicle that was stopped on Lambert Lane was found to have an active arrest warrant through the City of West Plains.
