May 13
Cpl. Thomas Manning conducted a traffic stop and found the driver did not have a valid license.
Officer Brixey responded to Johnson Street for a report of a domestic incident. A report will be forwarded to the West Plains Municipal Prosecutor.
Cpl. Manning conducted a traffic stop and found a passenger to have an outstanding warrant. After releasing the subject from the police department, officers found the subject left a controlled substance in the marked patrol unit and formal charges will be pending after a lab result is conducted.
May 14
Officer Ivie Powell arrested a subject with an outstanding warrant from Oregon County.
West Plains Police UAS pilots were called upon to assist with a missing person near US Highway 160. A citizen saw the individual near the roadway, helping officers locate the person safely
Officer Brixey spoke with an individual who reported that, while they were on State Route K, another driver entered their lane of traffic and forced them off the road. The matter is under investigation.
Cpl. Manning responded to Independence Drive for a report of an individual attempting self-harm by jumping in front of moving vehicles. The individual charged at officers and attempted to disarm them. They placed the individual on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges.
Officer Brent Keepes received found property left at the Super 8 Motel and entered it into evidence for safekeeping. 
West Plains Police Department obtained an anonymous tip regarding the location on Davidson St. of a subject wanted on multiple outstanding warrants. Investigation found the subject barricaded himself inside of the residence and refused to comply with orders to exit the residence. Further investigation learned that two adults remained inside of the residence, and officers safely extracted them from the residence. The West Plains Strategic Response Team and Howell County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene while West Plains Police Department Crisis and Hostage Negotiations Team attempted to negotiate with the subject. During the course of the incident, the subject fired multiple rounds from a handgun at officers. Negotiations continued until the West Plains Strategic Response and Howell County SWAT Team members entered the residence and located the subject deceased due to an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. 
May 15
Cpl. Manning conducted a traffic stop on Porter Wagoner. A positive K-9 alert led to a search of the vehicle where they located illegal substances in a passenger’s belongings. 
May 16
Officer Powell arrested a subject with active warrants from the West Plains and Mountain View Municipal Courts.
Officer Brad Jones responded to Thayer Avenue for a report of a dog attempting to bite people walking past. He issued the owner a citation for not restraining a dangerous animal.
Officer Brixey responded to Worley Drive and Preacher Roe for a report of a two-vehicle accident. Investigation found one vehicle left the scene. After a short search, officers located the vehicle. The incident is still under further investigation.
Officer Brixey responded to a business on Preacher Roe for a report of stealing. The suspect resisted arrest, and officers conducted a short foot chase. During arrest, officers discovered controlled substances on the suspect. A probable cause statement will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor's Office. 
May 17
Officer Daiman Meyer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for driving while intoxicated.
Cpl. Wesley Stuart conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for driving while intoxicated.
Officer Jacob Beadell conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for driving without a valid license.
Officer Meyer conducted a safety check on an individual walking on Thayer Avenue and found them to have outstanding warrants. 
Officer Barrett responded to Walnut Street for a report of a disturbance. Investigation found one of the subjects to have outstanding warrants from Howell and Ozark Counties. 
Officer Whitley Clark responded to the area of Doctors Drive for a report of domestic assault. This case will be forwarded to the prosecutors for review. No charges are being sought at this time.
Officer Powell responded to US Highway 63 in reference to property damage and theft. The victim reported an unknown person(s) had damaged his fence and took hundreds of dollars’ worth of scrap from his dumpster. This matter remains under investigation.
Officer Powell responded to the area of Padgett and Gibson Avenue in reference to a motor vehicle collision. Investigation learned one driver did not have a valid operator’s license and they pulled out into oncoming traffic, causing damage to both vehicles. He arrested the driver and transported them to the West Plains Jail for processing.
Cpl. Stephens arrested a subject with active warrants.
Officer Chris Siegrist received found property and entered it into evidence for safekeeping.
Officer Jerry Mingus responded to Kentucky Ave for a report of an assault. The victim reported a sexual assault. This case is under investigation.
Officer Keepes responded to Hilburn Sports Complex located on East Olden regarding an altercation. Interviews with multiple people found that a verbal altercation took place between two individuals. Charges will be being sought.
May 18
Officer Beadell conducted a traffic stop on Worley Drive and arrested the driver for driving while intoxicated.
Officer Meyer conducted a traffic stop on North Howell Ave. and arrested the driver for driving while intoxicated.
Sgt. Joshua Wichowski responded to a residence on McFarland Drive for a report of a deceased person. Investigation determined the death to be of natural causes with no foul play suspected. This case is closed.
Cpl. Stephens responded for a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Pamela and Dogwood. He issued one driver a citation for a stop sign violation and the second driver a citation for leaving the scene of an accident.
Officer Siegrist responded to Prospect Street in reference to a stolen motorcycle. The case is considered open at this time.
Officer Shell conducted a warrant service on a subject on Sixth Street.

Officer Siegrist responded to W. Main for a call of a suicidal individual. They transported the individual to Ozarks Healthcare for a 96-hour mental evaluation.
Officer Shell arrested a subject on an outstanding warrant.
May 19
Officer Meyer conducted a traffic stop on Gibson Street and arrested the driver for driving while intoxicated.
Officer Austin Deshazo received a report of dissemination of sexual images. Investigation discovered images of the victim were disseminated without their permission. This case will be forwarded to the detective division.
Officer Mingus took a report of stealing from a business on Porter Wagoner.
Cpl. Manning conducted warrant service on McFarland and arrested one subject.
Officer Shell conducted a traffic stop near Independence Drive. Investigation found narcotics. Charges will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
May 20
Officer Beadell conducted a traffic stop on Freedom Drive and found the driver to have an active warrant. 
Officer Deshazo took a report of found property.
Officer Mingus placed a subject on a 96-hour mental evaluation hold.
Cpl. Manning conducted a traffic stop on Saint Louis Street where investigation found the driver in possession of a controlled substance. 
Cpl. Manning received a report of harassment. A report will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Officer Shell received a report of threats made to Howell County Sheriff’s Office employees. Witnesses were interviewed. 
May 21
Officer Clark received a report of child abuse. The case is under investigation.
Officer Deshazo responded to Johnson Street for a report of a court order violation. A report will be referred to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review.
Cpl. Manning responded to Sixth St. for a verbal domestic. Investigation found no evidence of a physical altercation and asked all parties to separate for the night.
Officer Brixey responded to Holiday Lane for a report of a one-vehicle rollover accident. Investigation found the driver’s license revoked, and he was suspected of driving while intoxicated. They placed the suspect on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges. A probable cause statement will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor's Office.
Cpl. Manning responded to a verbal domestic where a suspect already left the scene. Officers offered the victim judicial remedies.
Officer Shell responded to Saint Louis St. for a report of a medical emergency. Investigation found a subject pronounced deceased.
May 22
Officer Meyer conducted a traffic stop on US Highway 63 and found the driver in an intoxicated condition. 
Officer Deshazo responded to East Maple Street for a report of a domestic disturbance. Investigation discovered a verbal-only altercation had occurred.
Dixon Police Department in Illinois reported to the West Plains Police Department that a subject in their custody sexually assaulted a juvenile family member in 2020 at a motel in West Plains. The matter is under investigation.
Officer Powell received a report of theft by scam. The matter remains under investigation.
While on patrol, a juvenile subject flagged down Cpl. Manning and reported they were threatened with a firearm. Officers contacted the suspect and placed them under arrest and placed on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges.
May 23
Officer Barrett responded to East Dixon for a report of a domestic. The couple stated they had a verbal argument.
Cpl. Stephens responded to Hazel Street for a report of stealing that occurred on or about May 9. This report will be forwarded to the detective division for further investigation.
Officer Barrett conducted a traffic stop and arrested one subject for an outstanding warrant.
Cpl. McKemie completed an investigation of property damage that occurred on Chippewa. The case will be closed due to a lack of evidence.
Officer Brixey arrested a subject on outstanding warrants from Howell County and Missouri Probation and Parole.
May 24
Sgt. Wichowski conducted warrant service at a residence on North Utah Street. He arrested one for outstanding warrants.
Officer Meyer arrested one subject on Joe Jones Blvd for an outstanding warrant.
Sgt. Wichowski conducted a safety check on a vehicle at People's Park located on Broadway Street. Investigation determined that four juveniles ran away from home. Officers turned over all juveniles the care and custody of their parental guardians who did not know the juveniles were not home.
Sgt. Wichowski responded to the area of Stephens Street and Lincoln Avenue in reference to a suicidal individual. Officers located the subject and observed minor injuries. They transported the individual to the Ozark's Healthcare Emergency Room and placed them on a 96-hour hold for mental evaluation.
The Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Taskforce received a request for assistance from the Noble County Sheriff's Office, Okla., concerning a sexual message conversation between a juvenile in their jurisdiction and an adult in the West Plains area. The investigation is ongoing.
Officer Clark received a report of theft by forgery. The case is open for further investigation.
Cpl. Stephens responded to a residence on Garfield for a wellbeing check. Investigation found the resident likely experiencing a medical emergency and while making entry into the residence. EMS responded and transported the resident to OZH ER.
Howell County Coroner Tim Cherry contacted the Police Department and reported the death of a 21-month-old child. This matter is currently under investigation.
Officer Connor Burnes responded to Jackson Street for a report of an assault. Investigation found a juvenile suspect kicked the victim. This case will be sent to the Juvenile Office.
Officer Siegrist responded to Preacher Roe in reference to a domestic assault. Investigation resulted in the arrest of one individual and placed on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges. A probable cause statement will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor's Office.
May 25
Officer Meyer located an injured animal in the roadway. He determined the animal to be hurt beyond help and dispatched it humanely.
Officer Meyer conducted a traffic stop on South Hill St and found the driver in an intoxicated condition. 
Officer Beadell conducted a traffic stop on US Hwy 63 and found the driver had an active warrant from another state.
Officer Barrett responded to Hubert Redburn Lane for a report of a domestic. Investigation found a verbal altercation took place. 
Officer Mingus responded to Kentucky Ave for a report of stealing. Investigation found an item taken from a store and identified the suspect.
Officer Shell responded to Preacher Roe Blvd for a report of stealing. He arrested one subject.
May 26
Officer Beadell responded to Washington Avenue for a report of a suicidal subject. EMS transported the subject to the hospital for care.
Officer Meyer conducted a traffic stop on Broadway Street and found the driver in an intoxicated condition. Investigation found this to be a second offence and a report will be forwarded to the prosecuting attorney.
Officer Beadell conducted a traffic stop on US Highway 63 and arrested the driver for driving while under the influence. 
Officer Meyer conducted a traffic stop on Gibson Street. Investigation found the driver operating the vehicle without a valid operator's status and while intoxicated. This case will be referred to the Howell County Prosecutor's Office for review due to the number of previous offenses.
Officer Meyer responded to Newton for a report of harassment. He arrested one subject and placed them on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges.
