December 2

Officer Jim Hedlesten took a report of lost or stolen medication.

Officer David Hocking arrested an individual for inhalant of solvents after a report of someone passed out in a vehicle at Maple and Third Sts. The individual was released. 

December 3

Dispatch relayed that Howell County Sheriff received a commercial alarm call on Split Oak Dr. and that they were responding from the Sheriff’s Office. Officer Hedleston checked the business and found all doors locked. The keyholder advised the officers to disregard the alarm. 

Officer Jada Gunter completed security checks at: golf course, airport, football field, city park, American Diesel, and FGBC.

December 4

Officer Cary Gates responded to a two vehicle non-injury accident at Loves. 

Officer Gates responded to Snappy Mart for a vehicle parked in the fuel lane for an extended time. The driver was asked to move his vehicle.

December 5

Officer Gates responded to a commercial alarm on Main Street. After checking the front and back doors and finding them secure, the keyholder advised him to disregard. 

Asst. Chief Alan Lewis assisted a motorist at Booster Field. 

Asst. Chief Lewis took a report of property damage at a residence on Grand St. 

December 7

Asst. Chief Lewis responded to Love’s truck stop for a report of an abandoned animal. The reporting party stated they witnessed a driver leaving a dog in the parking lot and then exiting even after several witnesses attempted to flag him down. Officers contacted the driver’s company and asked them to have the driver return. The driver returned to Love’s and Asst Chief Lewis advised him on city ordinances and animal abandonment. The animal was taken by WSACO for adoption. 

Officer Gunter completed security checks at: city park, football field, and FGBC. An open door to a commercial building on S. Harris was found and the building cleared. 

December 8

Officer Gunter completed security checks at: golf course, UPS, Fixtures for Less, airport, FGBC, Jasper, Center Street for water coverage, Loves, Willow Care, football field, city park, and Baileys, where she made contact with an employee.

Officer Gunter responded to Loves for a report of a physical altercation. A man and woman were traveling through the area and had a verbal dispute that escalated into property damage. Officer Gunter discovered the man had a handgun. She secured the weapon and separated the individuals involved. No charges are expected to issue.

Chief Wes Ellison responded to a medical call of a possible overdose on Main Street. He assisted the ambulance personnel and visually checked the residence for drugs.
