Calls for Service
April 29
Officer Paden Turnbull observed an open back door at a downtown building. When the officer went to check the building, he was met by two workers who had opened the door to air out the building. 
Animal Control Officer David Hocking responded to a business on North Cherry St. that was reported to have taken possession of two small dogs that were running at large. The owner of the dogs had contacted City Hall looking for the animals around the same time. The dogs were returned to their owner. 
Officer John Thomas responded to a report of children jumping off the top of a dugout at Booster Field. He made contact with the children and spoke to their guardian regarding their behavior. 
April 30
Officer Thomas was dispatched to check the wellbeing of a woman at a yard sale on Scott St. The caller reported the woman was not feeling well, but refused medical attention and drove home. Officer Thomas went to the home, but there was no answer at the door. 
May 1
Sergeant Mike Huffman responded to a report of two juvenile females fighting at the pool. He made contact with the young women and will follow up with the Howell County Juvenile Office. 
May 2
Sgt. Huffman responded to a report of an individual causing a disturbance on North Grand St. The subject left the property. 
May 3
Officer Jim Hedlesten and Assistant Chief Wes Ellison responded to West Fourth St. for a report of an ongoing domestic disturbance. An arrest was made. 
Sgt. Huffman arrested a male subject with an active warrant from Howell County Sheriff’s Office. 
Sgt. Huffman took a report of a theft of gasoline. 
May 4
Officer Corey Clark was dispatched by 911 to check on a man walking in the rain near Loves Travel Stop. The officer made contact with the man at East Main and Industrial and learned that the man was attempting to walk to West Plains because his wife was in the hospital. The man received a ride back to Loves, and the officer called an Uber driver to take him to West Plains. 
Animal Control Officer Hocking investigated an anonymous report of a neglected dog on North Center St. The animal had food, but no water or shelter. Animal Control attempted to contact the owner and will patrol the area regularly to ensure the wellbeing of the animal. 
Sgt. Huffman checked the wellbeing of a car parked at the pool. A woman was parked there to use her phone. Nothing further was needed. 
May 5
Asst. Chief Wes Ellison responded to Loves Travel Stop for a report of a semi truck parked in a fire lane and refusing to leave. After police contact, the driver complied and moved the truck. 
An 18-year-old man contacted the station to report that he took too many of his anxiety medications and was starting to feel light-headed and unwell. He was home alone and did not know what to do. He was not trying to harm himself and was treated by ambulance personnel. 
Officer Dustin Smith took a call from a business owner on East Frisco Ave. who reported that catalytic converters were stolen from two vehicles on her property. 
Officer Smith took a call regarding an out of control juvenile. The caller initially requested officer assistance, but then called back to say the child had calmed down. No further was required.
