January 19

Officer Gunter completed security checks at: UPS, Fixtures for Less, the football field, city park, Baileys, MFA, and FGBC.

January 20

Officer Gunter completed security checks at: Bailey’s, the airport, UPS, Fixtures for Less, Peterbilt, Willow Care, WS Apartments, FGBC, Loves, and American Diesel. 

Officers Gunter and Hedlesten responded to a motor vehicle accident on State Route DD. All parties refused medical treatment.

Officer Barnhouse received a call of a suspicious person loitering near a business on West Main. He did not locate the subject and advised they would do extra patrol of the area.

January 21

Officer Gunter completed security checks at: the golf course, airport, Willow Care, FGBC, Bailey’s UPS, and Fixtures for Less.

West Plains Police asked Officer Hedlesten to assist in sending them any known information of outstanding City of Willow Springs warrants as they were doing a warrant round up that afternoon. Officer Hedlesten sent information on five active warrants to West Plains Police.

January 22

Officer Hedlesten responded to the laundromat for a report of a fire. No fire was active. Eleven Point Fire Department investigated the scene. 

January 23

Officer Barnhouse completed security checks at: Turner Drive, Bear Crossing businesses, Cattleman’s, Lee’s Tire, UPS, Fixtures for Less, Bear City Storage, E Main St business plaza, O’Reilly’s, Dollar General, Tractor Supply, Ferguson Drug, Caseys, YMCA, Simmons Bank, the West Plains Bank. 

Officer Barnhouse assisted a caller reporting a domestic assault and requested information regarding an order of protection.

Officer Gunter took a call from a juvenile who stated they were suicidal. The juvenile had taken measures to inflict harm on themselves. EMS arrived and stated the juvenile needed medical attention. Due to the juvenile’s concerns about the parents and lack of support, Officer Gunter will call the child abuse hotline for further investigation.

January 24

Assistant Chief Alan Lewis responded to the high school for a juvenile in distress. EMS transported the juvenile for mental evaluation.

Officer Barnhouse completed security checks at: Tractor Supply, Simmons Bank, Midwest Walnut, MUNCH, White Industries, Cox Medical Clinic, Yarber’s, Booster Field, Bailey’s, West Plains Bank, Town and Country, dollar stores, MFA, Fosters, American Family Ins, H & R Block, laundromat, Casey’s, Pizza Americana, 11 Point Cafe, Coulters, and the Star Theater.

Officer Gunter received a call about a possible intoxicated driver. She located the vehicle and observed the driver’s actions. The driver maintained careful and prudent driving. 

A local mail carrier turned in a wallet found outside the city with identification of a juvenile. Dispatch contacted the high school, and the wallet will be returned to the owner.

January 25

Officer Gates responded to Tractor Supply for a report of interior alarms. Due to the snow, he observed no footprints around the building and all doors secure. 

Officer Gunter assisted a motorist who had run out of gas on East Main Street.

Assistant Chief Lewis responded to Love’s Travel Center for a report of a verbal disturbance between drivers. He made contact with the complaining party and discovered the altercation involved a parking spot. All parties came to an agreement.

Assistant Chief Lewis received a call of a possible vehicle accident in the area of Love’s Travel Center. Upon arrival he found approximately thirty trucks waiting in line for fuel. The trucks were backed up all the way to the westbound ramp of US 60. Traffic congestion eventually dissipated. 

January 26

An individual called the dispatch desk for a possible scam phone call with the caller stating they were from another police agency. The dispatcher attempted to call the number and found it disconnected or turned off.

Officer Cary Gates spoke with an individual who had a pop up on her personal computer that turned out to be a scam. The person had her banking information. The individual immediately went to her bank and closed her accounts. No funds were lost, the individual wanted to share the information with police.
