Calls for Service

May 25

Officer Cary Gates received a report of theft from Park Street. The caller reported a leaf blower taken from in front of the residence. This is an open investigation. 

Officers responded to a report of domestic disturbance with a vehicle following another individual. Officer Cronin discovered one of the parties involved had active warrants from Cabool. He arrested the individual, and they posted bond.

Officer Cronin responded to a verbal domestic at Booster Field. He found one of the individuals had active warrants. He arrested the subject, and they posted bond.

Howell County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance in locating a stolen vehicle on E Main Street. Officer Cronin located three vehicles matching the description. Investigation found none of the vehicles in question were the stolen vehicle.

May 26

Officer Hedlesten received a report of homeless individuals in a wooded area. He conducted a security check on the party.

May 27

Officer Cronin responded to a neighbor dispute with one threatening to shoot the other’s dog. After speaking to both parties, he found the dog at one residence trying to harm the cats at another residence. Officer Cronin advised there would be no use of firearms in the city and referred the animal issue to Animal Control for further investigation.

Sgt. Hoopes received a request for a well-being check on an intoxicated individual. He found the individual safe.

May 29

Officer Barnhouse spoke to an individual with concerns of threatening text messages. He advised them of possible solutions. 

Officer Hedlesten responded to a medical emergency at senior housing. He stayed with the patient until EMS arrived.

Officer McGinnis conducted a security check of Tractor Supply after locating a broken inside window. Everything appeared secure.

May 30

Officers responded to E Fourth Street for a suspicious subject. They could not locate anyone in the area.

Officers received a call of an individual walking into traffic on US 60/63. Officers Barnhouse and McGinnis responded and noticed possible flashlights in a wooded area. They were unable to locate anyone.

Officer Gates responded to a cemetery on West Main for a domestic situation. He spoke to both parties and advised them of the 12-hour separation rule.

Assist. Chief Alan Lewis responded to a bank alarm. Employees stated the ATM alarm had not been properly deactivated before servicing. 

May 31

While on routine patrol officers discovered a two-vehicle accident at W Tenth and Springfield Road. EMS transported a passenger for injuries. Officers arrested and transported to OZH one driver for treatment. Charges will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office for felony driving while intoxicated.

An individual reported to officers that an individual riding a bike with an unrestrained dog running alongside passed his residence. When the reporter’s dog barked at the unrestrained dog, it attacked. The reporting party broke the dogs apart, and the biker took their dog and left but cursed at the home owner. Officer Bloomer passed the report to Animal Control for further investigation.

Officer McGinnis conducted a security check on a vehicle by request. He found an individual sleeping and notified family members to take them home.

Officer Barnhouse responded to N. Grand Street for loud music. The residence in question did not have any music playing when he arrived in the area.

Sgt. Hoopes responded to WS Apartments for a juvenile medical emergency. He stayed with the individual and family until EMS could arrive. 

June 1

Chief Wes Ellison responded with Willow Springs Fire to the golf course for a report of a vehicle fire.
