22nd Annual Tom Smith Sunrise Rotary Golf Tournament a tremendous success

The 22nd Annual Tom Smith Sunrise Rotary Golf Tournament, held on Saturday, May 25 was a tremendous success, bringing together golf enthusiasts and community supporters for a day of spirited competition and camaraderie. The event featured 34 teams, each composed of three players, competing across various flights with outstanding performances throughout the day.
 
Championship Flight: First Place-Jordan Land, Johnny Fowler, and Dylan White. Second Place-Len Jones, Ryan Chowning, and Kevin Pruett. Third Place-Derek Donahy, Landon Luna, and Caleb Harris.
 
A Flight: First Place-Clint Berry, Sarah Logue, and Bobby Logue. Second Place-Troy Bass, Brody Bass, and Lou Citro. Third Place-Greg Stone, John Ames, and Greg Freeman.
 
B Flight: First Place-Randy Schutter, Richard Bowles, and Scott Heidy. Second Place-Bob Frey, Gary Trail, and Randy McGinnis. Third Place-Rusty Shipley, Ryan Chamberlain, and John Boykan.
Long Drive Winners: Men’s-Janson Jordan. Women’s-Sarah Logue.
 
Closest to the Pin: Hole 6-Lee Parker; Hole 9-Landon Luna; Hole 15-Seth Huddleston; and Hole 17-Jordan Land.
 
The tournament was generously supported by several food sponsors, including Johnny Murrell, Domino's Pizza, Pepsi Mid America, Sugar Lily and Frito Lay, ensuring participants were well-fed and hydrated throughout the day.
 
This year’s tournament paid special tribute to the memory of Stan Smith and Justin Cooley, esteemed former members of the Sunrise Rotary Club who recently passed away. Their dedication to service and commitment to Rotary’s mission was honored throughout the event, reminding everyone of the profound impact they had on the community.
 
All proceeds from the tournament directly benefit the Rotary Backpack Program. The program, which addresses food insecurity, ensures that local youth receive a backpack filled with food every Friday.
Dakota Bates, President of the Sunrise Rotary Club, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants and supporters, stating, “We are incredibly thankful to everyone who joined us for the 22nd Annual Tom Smith Sunrise Rotary Golf Tournament.
