Lady Bears Place Second in Thayer Winter Classic

The Willow Springs Lady Bears competed in the Thayer Winter Classic last week. On Monday the Lady Bears squared off against the junior varsity squad from Liberty for their first round game. They notched an easy win with a final score of 85-23.
Their next scheduled match-up against the Mammoth Springs Lady Bears was canceled due to illness. Instead, the Naylor Lady Eagles filled the void in the contest for the semifinals.
The Lady Bears came out slow, but built momentum and held on to take the victory by a score of 41-34.
The championship match-up pitted the ladies from Willow against neighbor and SCA competitor, the Liberty Lady Eagles for the second time this year. Willow Springs won the first meeting in the holiday tournament earlier this year and looked to ride that confidence into the game
The first quarter told the story of the entire game as the Lady Eagles would shoot a scorching 61% from the field, and the Lady Bears could only muster a bleak 9%. The Lady Eagles pulled away with a score the Lady Bears could not top.
The Lady Eagles would take the Championship, and the Lady Bears would take second place. Scoring for the Lady Bears was Ashlyn Jones with 18, Mckylie Cox with 8, Keena Lowe with 5, Chloe Chafin with 5, and Aspin Atwell with 3.
