Lady Eagles soar past Dora and East Carter

The Liberty Lady Eagles Basketball team is sitting on an impressive 5-1 season record after defeating Dora and East Carter this past week.
On Tuesday, December 14 the Lady Eagles hosted the Dora Lady Falcons. In the first quarter the Lady Eagles jumped ahead 28 points to Dora’s 12. The second quarter and third quarter were similar as the Lady Eagles had 26 and 21 points to Dora’s 11 and 16 points. The final quarter saw neither team put many up on the scoreboard, with a quarter-end score of 8-7 with a final game score of 83-46. For the game, Sr. Abby Woolsey had 21 points followed by freshman Hadley Chowning with 18. Senior Lexi Shumpert had 16, So. Reagan Wells had 13, Fr. Ella Phipps had 6, Jr. Sydnee Lafevers had 4, So. Macey Bolander had 3 and Sr. Kenna Woolsey had 2 points.
Rounding out the week with another home game, the Lady Eagles hosted the East Carter Lady Redbirds on Thursday, December 16. The Lady Eagles once again had an impressive first quarter scoring 29 points to East Carter’s 19. For the second quarter the Lady Eagles scored 21 to East Carter’s 17, the third had 20 points to East Carter’s 19 and in the fourth East Carter scored more points than the Lady Eagles 21-20. The final score for the game was the Lady Eagles winning 90 to 76. For the game, Sr. A Woolsey had 28 points followed by So. Wells with 18, Sr. Shumpert with 15, Sr. K Woolsey with 14, Fr. Chowning with 10, Jr. Lafevers with 3 and Jr. Lyla Cornman with 2 points.
The Lady Eagles will next play in the Mountain Grove Holiday Tournament on Monday, December 27 against Summersville. Game time is set to begin at 4:30pm.
