Liberty baseball falls to the Wildcats; Track and Field advances five to State

After a couple of rain delays, the Mountain View-Birch Tree Liberty High School baseball faced the Thayer Bobcats in the first round of District play. Both teams battled with a tied score of 0-0 until the Eagles finally scored a walk-off run to win the game 1-0.
They turned around and played the Licking Wildcats within a few hours to see who went on to the Championship game. The Eagles held the Wildcats off for a few innings. After a hot hitting streak, the Wildcats came away with a big win, 10-0 over the Eagles. The Wildcats went on to defeat the Houston Tigers for the District Championship.
This game was Coach Allen Hedden’s before his retirement. Best of luck to Coach Richie Jester in the future of Liberty Eagles Baseball.
The Liberty Eagles Track and Field team competed in District competition at Waynesville High School. Nine athletes qualified to move on to Sectionals.
Parker Tune, Gavin Reese, Carter Pruett, Adrien Pendegraft, Brody Rutledge, Chris Sharr, Drew Ripko, Jade Acklin, and Kinzie Tomey all qualified at Districts and competed in the Sectionals Meet in West Plains.
