Liberty Drops Road Playoff Game to Fair Grove

Football season has come and gone for the Liberty Eagles. The 42-7 loss Friday night at the hands of Fair Grove ended Liberty's six game winning streak and their season. The Eagles finished with a record of 7-4 and were 6-1 in conference play.
The game started fast for the undefeated Fair Grove Eagles. On their second play from scrimmage, Kellen Lair busted loose for a 65-yard touchdown run. The speedy Jr. running back (Lair) is being looked at to play football in college. Kicker Gavin Brock knocked through the extra point.
Fair Grove's Spensar Seiger kept momentum rolling with an interception on Liberty's first play. Lair once again made a play with a 45-yard catch-and-run from QB Seiger.
Liberty was able to move the ball on their next possession but stalled at the Fair Grove 12. Less than two minutes later, Mr. Lair found the endzone, this time from five yards away.
Liberty made some plays on their next drive. First, it was Chris Sharr with a long reception down the sideline. Then, with 4:21 remaining in the second quarter, Carter Pruett found Gavin Reese for a 16-yard scoring strike. Reese's kick made it 21-7.
Fair Grove used up the rest of the first half with another scoring drive. This time, Seiger passed to Brock Burner for 20-yards. The home team Fair Grove led 28-7 at the break.
The second half was similar to the first. Fair Grove was able to add two more scoring drives. Lair accounted for both of those touchdowns, one for 51 yards and one for 56.
For Liberty, eight seniors ended their high school football careers -- Adrien Pendegraft, Carter Pruett, Eli Moore, Ashton Conley, Brody Rutledge, Wyatt Honeycutt, Angel Lopez and Jake Carl.
