Poynter Signs to Play Basketball At Baptist Bible College

Darcy Poynter, daughter of Darlena Poynter and a member of the class of 2020, has committed to play basketball at Baptist Bible College in Springfield this fall. 

She officially signed on May 13 on the campus. She was accompanied on this visit by Darlena Poynter and Casey Fowler. 

Poynter said Baptist Bible College is appealing to her because it is a small, Christian based school. 

“I want to get closer to God,” she said. 

Poynter is a relative newcomer to Willow Springs. She began attending Willow Springs high school for her junior year, but quickly distinguished herself as a stand-out athlete. She said her favorite memory playing basketball as a Lady Bear was, “Playing against Mountain Grove and swishing three 3’s in a row and running down the floor and there was another.”

To the fans in the stands in Willow Springs, she says, “Thanks for the past two years! Everyone was family to me from the first day I came here and made me feel like I was at home.”

Poynter plans to study elementary education.
