SAMBO HINE ATHLETES OF THE YEAR

Every year, Willow Springs high school coaches nominate athletes for the Sambo Hine Athlete of the Year Award. The coaches select one boy and one girl each year for the award.
This annual award dates back to the 1970's and was named after the most famous bear fan of all time, John Franklin "Sambo” Hine.
The recipient of the Sambo Hine Athlete of the Year Award is that athlete who, “best represents his or her school through excellence in athletics during both practices and interscholastic competition, with consideration given to his or her contribution to the total school program during a minimum of two sport seasons in one school year.”
This year’s winners are Ryan Friga and McKylie Cox.
