Turkey Hunting Success Adalie Kruse, 8, daughter of Amber Schulz and Brad Kruse killed her first turkey on April 1 while hunting near Mountain View with her dad. The turkey weighed 23 pounds and had a 10-inch beard and 1-inch spurs. She shot the turkey at 25 yards with a 20-gauge shotgun. Justin Perkins, 10, killed this turkey in Texas County just outside of Willow Springs on Highway 137 while hunting with his father Jamie Perkins. Justin shot this turkey at 7:30 a.m. on opening morning of Youth Turkey Season. The bird weighed 25 pounds with a 10-inch beard and 1.25-inch spurs. This is Justin’s third turkey using a Stevens .410.
