Crockett W. Oaks Jr. receives honorary degree

Officials at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) proudly conferred an Honorary Associate of Arts in General Studies degree upon Crockett W. Oaks Jr. during its 2025 Commencement Ceremony Saturday, May 10, at the West Plains Civic Center.

A lifelong resident of West Plains, Oaks was recognized for his extraordinary record of service to his community, state and country. His legacy spans military service, public service, family support, historical preservation and a lifelong commitment to education.

"Mr. Oaks represents the very best of what it means to serve selflessly and lead with integrity," said Dr. Dennis Lancaster, MSU-WP chancellor. "His story is one of perseverance, duty and a deep belief in the power of education. It is only fitting that we honor him with a degree that reflects the journey he began decades ago."
