MV-BT School District sets tax rate hearing, meal prices for 2025-2026 school year

The Mountain View-Birch Tree School District Board of Education met on Thursday, July 17. The meeting was short as board members and administrators were able to take a small breath before the upcoming 2025-2026 school year.
 
The Tax Rate Hearing for the school district was set for August 14 at 6:00 p.m. with the regular board meeting to immediately follow.
 
Meal prices for the 2025-2026 school year were approved at $1.75 for student breakfast, $3.00 for student lunch, $0.50 for extra milk, $2.58 for adult breakfast, and $3.95 for adult lunch.
 
The agenda was approved as were the minutes of the June 19 regular board meeting. Other items on the agenda included:
- Payment of bills in the amount of $1,165,282.09
- Payment of $68.00 to Kristy Reese for ACT reimbursement approved from which Mikael Orchard abstained
- Payment of $320.20 to Brown's Farm & Garden for supply approved and Orchard abstained
- Payment of $68.00 to Holly Smith for ACT reimbursement approved from which Mike Smith abstained
- June 2025 financial report with balance of $9,768,827.12 presented
- Year end budget amendments for 2024-2025 school year, other amendments and transfers recommended by auditor approved
- Final budget for 2025-2026 school year as presented approved
- Board/Admin Retreat for policy and procedure training was set for Aug. 1 at 8:30 a.m. (The meeting will be posted with times of open and closed sessions)
- AMI plan for 2025-2026 school year approved
- Salary Protocol for 2025-2026 revisions as presented approved
- Phoenix Home Care and Hospice Nursing Co contract for 2025-2026 school year approved
- New Day Counseling contract for 2025-2026 school year approved
 
The meeting entered into closed session at 6:50 p.m. During closed session, the board approved to employ Bobby Brooks as bus driver, Julia Craig as para (pending paperwork) for the 2025-2026 school year. The board entered back into open session and then closed the meeting at 6:56 p.m.
