2026 Senior Real Estate Tax Credit deadline

The Howell County Collector’s Office reminds eligible residents that the deadline to apply for the Fall 2026 Senior Real Estate Tax Credit is Friday, Jan. 30. Applications will not be accepted after this date.

Applications have been available since November 1, 2025, and may be obtained from the hallway of the Howell County Office Building, located at 35 Court Square.

 

Eligibility requirements include ownership and occupancy of the property, age 62 or older by December 31, 2025, and payment of 2025 property taxes on or before December 31, 2025. Applicants must submit a paid tax receipt and a valid picture ID verifying date of birth.

 

Properties held in trust require documentation showing the applicant is the trustee. Applications will be rejected if the applicant is not the trustee of the property.
