The Willow Springs Arts Council is pleased to announce the return of Kids Art Camp.
This year’s Art Camp began on July 11 and run through July 13 for children who have completed First through Fifth Grades. Long time art instructor Ginny Thomason will be conducting these classes and will be doing a Matisse inspired watercolor painting, an acrylic painting, and a WordToon doodle art drawing. Thomason has taught several classes for the Arts Council and strives to share her love of painting with her students. She loves to see students enjoy expressing themselves artistically and experimenting with different mediums. She is also a pet portrait artist who works mainly in watercolor and pencil.
The following week, July 18 through the 20, Whitney Smith will be conducting classes for those who have completed sixth through twelfth grades. She will be teaching and guiding students through a sculpture class, a “found object” sculpture class, and a 16/20 step-by-step painting class. Smith has a fine arts degree and is a certified art and special education teacher.
Each session will be held on the second floor of the Ferguson Building in Willow Springs and begin at 1:00 p.m. and go until 3:00 p.m. Classes are $5.00 per session, however, there is a family discount for 3 or more students. All supplies are included and a snack.
Students must be registered before class begins. Registration can be made at the Ferguson Building front desk during business hours. They are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
