28 Years Between Them

Longtime aldermen for the City of Willow Springs, Susan Rackley and Troy Yonker, received recognition for their service on the Board of Alderman at their final meeting in service of the city on March 31. 

City Administrator Beverly Hicks gave a speech honoring Rackley's 18 and Yonker's 10 years as aldermen.

"They have worked diligently to represent our values, listen to our concerns, and give support to all the staff," she said. "They have both always remained consistent in highs, lows, success, and struggles. We always made it through. I am deeply saddened by their departure."

She turned to Rackley and Yonker, "Thank you for your time and your example of how diplomacy should work." 

Rackley was magnanimous and emotional in her remarks, saying, "Thank you to every city employee. I'm always so impressed with how hard they work." 

Yonker added, "I don't have near the years Susan has, but it has been a pleasure to serve and I'm very proud of all we've done."

David Collins is currently running unopposed for the Ward 2 Alderman seat and will take his position in April.

The Ward 1 seat is contested by three candidates and will be decided during Tuesday's general election.
