Gamma Phi Met in Nov.

The Gamma Phi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met Saturday, November 13, 2021, at the Cabool United Methodist, Cabool, MO. Members from Ava, Cabool, Houston, and Willow Springs attended.
Several items were discussed during the business meeting. Delta State officials have announced there will be no Delta State Convention held this year. Gamma Phi will give their four member towns $50 each to use to welcome new teachers to their respective districts. Individual towns will decide how best to extent this welcome. Members voted to continue keeping the chapter certificate of deposit in People’s Community Bank of Cabool. Also members of the scholarship committee were reminded to have applications for the Gamma Phi Grants in Aid sent to school districts by February 1, 2022.
Ava members were responsible for the program, “Move Over, Bob Ross.” Following the program, the annual scholarship auction was held with auctioneer Hank Grofenbacher. Funds generated from this auction allow Gamma Phi to award grants to deserving high school senior girls who are pursuing a degree in education.
Following the auction, members and guests enjoyed a soup, salad, and dessert luncheon prepared by the Eunice Whitaker Circle. Members are urged to attend the next Gamma Phi meeting, February 12, 2022, when a new slate of officers will be presented and a vote taken.
