Hartzler Visits Howell County

Candidate for U.S. Senate Vicky Hartzler spent two days touring southeast Missouri on May 3 and 4. After a whirlwind tour of Ava, Gainesville, and Houston on Tuesday, Hartzler ended the day at Cattlemen’s Steakhouse in Willow Springs. Wednesday’s agenda featured stops in West Plains, Alton, and Thayer.

Hartzler highlighted her endorsements when she spoke in Willow Springs. She is endorsed by Senator Josh Hawley, the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association, the Missouri Corn Growers Association, and the Family Research Action PAC.

A congresswoman since 2010, Hartzler said she is running for Senate because she wants the next Missouri senator to have a rural background.

The competition for the Republican primary this August is fierce. Hartzler will appear eighth on the ballot. She faces heavyweight candidates Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt and former Gov. Eric Greitens. In Willow Springs Tuesday night, she said she is a better choice than her opponents because she shares a rural background with Howell County voters and because, “I’ve already been [in D.C.] getting things done.”

She went on to decry Greitens as a former member of the Democratic Party and Schmitt as a moderate in the Missouri State Senate. 

Meanwhile, Hartzler described herself as a steadfast conservative who has been banned from Twitter and sanctioned by China for her views.

“There are people running this country who don’t share our values. We need a movement of Missourians to take a stand. We won’t let the woke liberal mob take over our country,” Hartzler said.

The primary election for the Republican nomination for the Senate seat is August 2.
