Hit and run vehicle crash

On May 5 at 5:43 a.m. officers with the West Plains Police Department were dispatched for a hit and run traffic crash. The caller advised a bicyclist had been struck by a red car on U.S. Highway 63 near Elmore Drive in West Plains, MO.
The officers that arrived in the area found a 19-year-old male bicyclist laying in the grass near the shoulder of the roadway. They also found the bicycle which had been reportedly dragged by the suspect vehicle approximately 100 feet away. The victim was later transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained as a result of the crash.
The West Plains Police Department is seeking the assistance of the community in identification of the suspect vehicle, involved parties and locating additional witnesses who may have seen the crash take place. The vehicle was described as a red, four-door passenger car, possibly a Pontiac Bonneville. The vehicle should have damage to the front end because of the crash.
