Local Author to Speak at OSCNSDAR Meeting

The Ozark Spring Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (OSCNSDAR) meeting for February 5 is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 1401 Bill Virdon Blvd., West Plains, MO. The topic for the February meeting program is, “A Bit of History – American Legion” with guest speaker, Mr. Ron Estes. Meeting Hostesses will be Pat McDaniel, and Susan Richardson.
Mr. Estes is a United States Army Veteran and an author. Formerly he served as a parole officer, and educator moving on to positions as an Assistant Principle at both Mammoth Spring School (Arkansas) and West Plains, Missouri. After a short retirement, Ron went back into education as a Bakersfield School Counselor and later as an Instructor for Ozarka College (Mammoth Spring). Today, he continues to research and write about local history, teach, serve as a veteran’s advocate, provide leadership as Commander of American Legion Post 55, and farm. 
All veterans, members of VFW, and American Legion are invited to attend Mr. Estes presentation is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. The presentation is free to attend, and he will have copies of his books available for sale at the end of the program. 
His four books are titled: History, Forrest-Stone Post #55 American Legion, Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Sharp County Soldiers of World War I, Historical Pictures of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and Fulton County Soldiers of World War I.
