Mask mandate dropped at airports and airlines

Late Monday, April 18, a federal judge struck down a federal mandate which, among other things, required the wearing of masks in U.S. airports and on U.S. airlines.

Effective immediately the mask mandate for U.S. airports and airlines is no longer in effect; masking is now optional. It is noted that flyers should expect inconsistent enforcement across the country as airlines, airports, and federal officials adjust to the change.

Masking may still be required in some airports, on some airlines and in some countries. Be sure to check with your airline before departing. Three of the four airlines serving the Springfield, MO area have dropped the mask requirement. Those include American, Delta, and United. There has been no officaial word yet from Allegiant Air.
