Certified Lineman

Willow Springs lineworker Nick Tooley earned his certification as a Journeyman Lineworker at the end of 2021, successfully completing the academic requirements of the Missouri Public Utility Alliance (MPUA) four-year Apprentice Lineworker Training Program.
The four-year MPUA training combines classroom instruction and hands-on training with applied on-the-job training. The program is designed to provide entry level and experienced utility employees the skills needed to obtain U.S. Department of Labor certification as a Line Installer/Repairer or Underground Electrical System Specialist, commonly referred to as a Journeyman in the electric utility industry.
Tooley was among 28 apprentice lineworkers from Missouri, Arkansas and Nebraska certified as Journeyman Lineworkers through the program at the end of 2021. Since the MPUA’s program began in 1989, 790 apprentices have graduated to become Journeyman Lineworkers.
