Newlywed accused of battering wife, exposing himself to stepdaughter

A Mountain View man faces a trio of felonies and a misdemeanor accusation of sexual misconduct after police say he beat his wife and exposed himself to his six-year-old stepdaughter. 

 

Police arrived at a residence in the 200 block of Washington St at 12:38 p.m. on July 28 for a report of a domestic disturbance in progress. Corporal Kylie McGee and Officer Jacob Brixey forced entry to the residence when there was no answer at the door while the victims, still on the line with 911, could be heard screaming as the assault continued. 

 

The woman and child left the residence safely as the police entered, and Grant U. Porter, 56, appeared in view slurring and swaying, and nude from the waist down, according to the probable cause statement. 

 

After initially refusing to comply with verbal commands, Porter was taken into custody. While en route to a local hospital for medical evaluation, he allegedly made threats against Corporal McGee. 

 

Police observed Porter continue to make threats to the victims as he was read his Miranda Rights. 

 

The adult victim told police she and Porter were recently married, and the evening’s violence began after she followed Porter into the room where the child was sleeping, fearing for the child’s safety. Court documents note injuries to the adult victim’s face, chin, and neck. 

 

Porter was formally charged with third degree domestic assault, first degree endangering the welfare of a child – sexual contact, and resisting arrest, all felonies. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of sexual misconduct. He pled not guilty before the Honorable R. David Ray on July 29, and is expected back in court for a counsel status hearing after press time on August 3.
