School board should be safety net for taxpayers, students

 

I'd like to take note of the letter last week from the so called Superintendent of Willow Springs Schools.

 

Apparently after bankrupting the school, he still thinks that cutting teachers to save money is the best way to fix this.

 

Question number 1.

Why do we have an assistant for every administrator??

 

Don't need it. Do your job yourself for the money you make. Absolutely too high a salary already for a small district.

 

Question number 2.

Why hasn't there been cuts in athletics??

 

What's more important,  basic education or learning to play with a ball? Instead, teach the kids life skills. You have graduates from WSHS that can't do basic math, write cursive or make change from a cash register without it telling them what to do.

 

Question number 3.

Let's cut management slots, hopefully yours. Keep teachers who are producing life skill advancement in students. We are a small district. We don't need 7, 8 , or 9 Administrative Assistance or Directors to run this district.

 

Question number 4.

How about the school board actually doing what they were voted in for?? That would be to be the watchdog for the taxpayers and STOP fraud, waste and abuse of taxpayer funds. Of course, the auditor pointed these things out but nobody seems to want to be the bad guy. How about doing your job and be the safety net for the taxpayers and the students??

 

Parents of the district need to pour into the school board meeting and let these people know that they were voted in or hired to do a job. All that it appears that is happening is business as usual -- take the money and do as little as possible for the people and their children.

 

Wake up, people! The wasted money has to come from tax increases and less time for the students.

 

Of course, the staff wants a shorter work week,  lol. Who doesn't??

 

What's that going to do for the single parents who work 5 days a week?? Cost them more that they cant afford through more child care expenses.

 

Pay attention to what's going on. It does impact us all.
