Liberty defeats Lamar

History has been made as the Liberty Eagles defeated the Lamar Tigers during the Class 2 State Quarterfinals on Saturday 12-7. The win marks the eighth time in program history the Eagles have faced off against the Tigers, but the first time the Eagles have come out on top.

"This is a great win for the community," explained Head Coach Jansen Acklin. "It's been a long time coming to get through the quarterfinals. We try not to make it a story of Lamar verses Liberty, but just making history by getting past this game. This is the story of the 2025 Liberty Eagles and the work they have put in."

The 10-2 Eagles will host the 12-0 Blair Oaks Falcons on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 1:00 p.m. at The Eagle's Nest. The Falcons, a team the Eagles have never faced off against, will come into the state semi final game on a flawless season record with four of the wins being shut-outs.

The Class 2 Final Four will consist of Liberty vs. Blair Oaks and St. Pius X vs. Monroe City. The winner of these games will play for the state title on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 3:00 p.m.
